The last time Chris Evans was in a murder mystery, his character ran away in handcuffs, but on the new series of Apple TV + Defend Jacob, the actor takes on a more protective role. Evans dies next to his Knives out there costar, Jaeden Martell, and Downton AbbeyMichelle Dockery’s miniseries based on the novel of the same name by William Landay.
The eight-episode miniseries follows Assistant District Attorney Andy Barber (Evans), as his quiet, suburban life is torn apart as his son, Jacob (Martell), is accused of brutally murdering his high school classmate. Although Andy and his wife, Laurie (Dockery), believe in their son’s innocence, damning evidence, their failed marriage, and the contempt of their neighbors force them to ask how far they would go to protect their children. Judging by the outlook we will say far damn.
Whew, we sure love a thriller! The series marks Evans’s first major television role since he recorded The opposite sex in 2000 and Dockery’s return to the small screen following Downton Abbey. Watch the trailer for Defend Jacob above and get ready to dive into the mystery when it hits Apple TV + on April 24th.
