We’re about a week from the release of August Burns Red’s eighth full studio album. The good news is that they haven’t let us dry since they announced the record in February. They gave us two and now three great singles.
The latest song “Paramount” includes all the musical talents that ABR members have JB Brubaker [lead guitar], Brent Rambler [rhythm guitar], Matt Greiner [drums], Jake Luhrs [vocals] and Dustin Davidson [bass] own.
“Paramount is one of my favorite songs from Guardians,” said Brukbaker. “It has that classic ABR sound with a lot of tempo changes and different time signatures. But there is a recurring melody that stitches the entire song together. I think this is a song that old fans of the band will love. ”

“In recent years, I have sometimes felt indifferent and disinterested in the things that used to fuel me,” continues Greiner. “I learned that suffering actually has meaning. It is not arbitrary and without purpose. I noticed that the more I was confronted with the fire, the more empathetic I became to other people who are also in pain. I found meaning in the pain and stopped running away. That’s what “Paramount” is all about. “
August Burns Red doesn’t take a break with this album either. All three singles so far clocked in over four minutes, with the latest hit nearly five.

Are you walking through fire? You have a friend. Stuck in a nightmare? My friend, you have a light to end it. Walking through fire. You have a friend. Stuck in a nightmare. There is a light to end it. You have hope. You got us. We can put it all back together. You have hope. We have faith in you. Don’t bury your skill. Don’t give up your strength.
Regret will make you a puppet, hold the strings and don’t be forgotten. Don’t be tired. Find a path through the night. Don’t be tired. Your strength gives you sight. There are thieves everywhere who suppress their regime. Look past your reflection in the direction of another. You have everything you need from your imperfections. You are the silent minority, the competent authority.

Anyone can tear others apart, so reassemble the broken parts. Walking through fire. You have a friend. Stuck in a nightmare. There is a light to end it. Look tomorrow, and settle yesterday. Your future is too bright to burn out. Forget the things they want you to believe. Forget the things they want you to be.
The injured are on your back. They will never determine your outcome. Walking through fire. You have a friend. Stuck in a nightmare. There is a light to end it. You are the hero who can show us that our tragedy is not tragic. We are not alone. You are on our side. Remind us how to fly.

Brubaker revealed that The Guardians are one of their most collaborative pieces to date.
“Guardians are the culmination of a full and total team effort,” he said. “Dustin [Davidson] and I worked together more musically than ever before. Jake [Luhrs] and Brent have collaborated more vocally than ever before. Matt [Greiner] bounced off more drum ideas than we could even imagine. ‘
“It was the most time we’ve spent in the studio on one album. We’re all so proud of this record and can’t wait to share it with the world.”
